Will Bergstrom is a 6th generation Dakotan. He enjoys history and when his grandma suggested a book about life on the prairie, he knew it was a good fit. People of the Prairie is Will’s second book.  He wrote his first book by accident.  His eighth grade English teacher gave them an essay writing assignment where they had to use certain words and fit it into the essay.  Will took those four words and turned it into The Magic Telescope.  When his teacher read the essay she was so impressed she encouraged him to have it published. He needed someone to illustrate the book so he naturally asked his grandma, aka, Mumsel to illustrate the book and she eagerly took on the project.

Will has loved to read all his life, from the time he was born he loved being read to and when he learned how to read for himself, he didn’t stop.  He loves fiction and nonfiction alike.

Will enjoys all types of music.  He has studied piano since he was 2 ½ years old, when he has 4 years old he took piano lessons from his great grandmother, Alma Studness.  At the age of 5 he started with Lynda Pearson.  He has received 12 consecutive superior ratings in the National Federation of Music Clubs piano festival.

Will also plays the double bass.  He started taking lessons in the 6th grade from Rick Neukom.  He has played in the Devils Lake High School Orchestra and the Community Orchestra.  He plays in an ensemble that includes his brother, Ben on the violin and his father, Renard on the piano, this group, named by Will, is affectionately known as “Uncle Sam’s Good Time All American Family Fun Band”!  Uncle Sam’s Good Time All American Family Fun Band took first place at the Farmers Union Got Talent competition in December 2007.  The three of them have fun playing for various organizations through out the state.

Will is a student at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. (class of 2013). He enjoys all of his classes and is still undecided at what he will concentrate in. Will's summer job is life guarding at the local pool. He enjoys skiing, reading, watching football, and swimming. Will is the son of Renard and Candace Bergstrom.  He has one brother, Ben.
